Warm-Up for Summer Fun

Hey, it’s Jennifer. Today I want to share a quick, less than one minute warm up to do for all of the fun summer activities that we’ve got going on.

So whether you’re playing recreational volleyball, softball, kickball, frisbee, just getting in the kayak or even just chasing your kids around the park, try this before you go! It’s not a perfect warm up, but it’s better than nothing. And if you’re like me and you’re showing up to these activities straight from watching the kids or work or you just get there and you start talking with your friends, it’s hard to pause and do a proper warm up. So This one is super quick and it hits lots of things in a short amount of time.

  1. Do just a couple side bends, getting the spine moving.
  2. Then widen your stance and go into a lateral squat with a twist. You can either put your hand on your knee and do that or you can reach all the way down to the side. This is getting some nice mobility in your spine, thoracic region and shoulders. It also stretches out the inner thigh & ankles and activates the outer glute for some stability. It also gets the hamstrings warm too,  so this is a really nice one. Just do a couple side to side.
  3. Do a couple arm circles to get those shoulders going.
  4. And then some Pogo hops to get your muscles and tendons ready for the impact of any jumping that you might be doing.

That’s it! It’s super quick. Obviously you’re not stopping to explain what’s going on like I just did so it takes like 30 to 60 seconds. Your body will really thank you  for having those couple of movements to get it primed for your fun day.

So give it a shot. Let us know what you think. Thanks!
